Supplies:

  • 3 plastic spoons

  • Red paint

  • Black paint

  • Paint brushes

  • Hot glue gun

  • Black pom pom (or wooden bead) for head

  • Googly eyes

  • Cotton swab (or fine paint brush)

 

Instructions:

  • Cut 2 spoons really short…those will be your wings

  • Cut 1 spoon with a bit of a neck…that will be your ladybug’s body. Leaving a little extra  plastic here will make it easier to install the head later.

  • Using black paint, paint the spoon that you will use for the ladybug’s body.

  • Paint the two remaining spoons red for the ladybug’s wings.

  • Allow the paint to dry completely.

  • Lay the short cut spoons over the third one and hot glue them right at the tip. These will be the wings.

  • Glue a black pom pom (or a wooden bead) for the head.

  • Using a cotton swab, paint black dots on the red wings.

  • Add googly eyes to the face.

Plastic Spoons Ladybug

Supplies:

  • 3 used bottle caps

  • White paint

  • Paint brush

  • Hot glue gun

  • Permanent markers – black and orange

  • Ribbon (Christmas colors)

  • Pom pom or other décor items for scarf

 

Instructions:

  • Paint the bottle caps with white paint. You may need two coats.

  • Allow the paint to dry completely

  • Using hot glue, attach bottle caps to each other to form the body of the snowman.

  • Cut a ribbon – 7 inches and form a loop. Using a hot glue gun, attach the loop to the head of the snowman so the ornament can hang from the tree.

  • Cut a ribbon – 7 inches to make a scarf. Form it into the shape of a scarf and glue it to the back of a pom pom.

  • Using a hot glue gun, attach the pom pom (with the ribbon scarf) between the first and second bottle caps.

  • Using permanent marker, draw on eyes, a nose and a mouth on the top bottle cap.

  • Draw buttons onto the middle bottle cap.

Bottle Cap Snowman Ornament

Paper Roll Turkey & Peacock

Supplies:

  • Toilet paper roll

  • Red paint

  • Orange Paint

  • Yellow paint

  • Construction paper for background

  • Red construction paper

  • Orange construction paper

  • Scissors

  • Hot glue gun

  • Googly eyes

 

Instructions:

  • Dip the toilet paper roll in yellow paint and make an arch for one row of the turkey’s feathers. 

  • Repeat.

  • Dip the toilet paper roll in orange paint and make an arch for another row of the turkey’s feathers. 

  • Repeat.

  • Dip the toilet paper roll in red paint and make an arch for the final row of the turkey’s feathers. 

  • Repeat.

  • Allow paint to dry completely.

  • Using a hot glue gun, attach the eyes to the roll.

  • Cut out a small orange triangle for the nose.

  • Cut out a small red oval for the waddle.

  • Attach the nose and the waddle to the paper roll to complete the face.

  • Using a hot glue gun, attach the paper roll to the construction paper in the middle of the arch of colors.

 

Note: You can make a peacock by following the above instructions, substituting blue, green and purple paint. Just omit the waddle and you can make the triangle nose either blue or purple.

Snail Egg Carton Craft

Supplies:

  • Paper egg carton

  • Pipe cleaner

  • Googly eyes

  • Paint (any color you want for your snail)

  • Paint brush

  • Glue gun

  • Scissors 

 

Instructions:

  • Cut out a cup from an egg carton. Trim around the edges so it lies flat.

  • Piant the egg carton the color you want your snail.

  • Allow the paint to dry completely.

  • To make the antennae, cut a pipe cleaner 9”. Fold it in half and then twist it into a “Y” shape at the top.

  • Using a hot glue gun, add googly eyes to the top of the pipe cleaner antennae.

  • Glue the antennae to the egg carton cup.

  • Using the remainder of the pipe cleaner that you cut for the antennae (about 2”), form a small tail and glue it to the egg carton body of the snail.

Spider Egg Carton Craft

Supplies:

  • Paper egg carton

  • Black paint

  • Paint brush

  • Black pipe cleaners

  • Googly eyes – small to medium

  • Hot glue gun

  • Scissors

 

Instructions:

  • Cut out a cup from an egg carton. Trim around the edges so it lies flat.

  • Piant the egg carton black.

  • Allow the paint to dry completely.

  • Cut black pipe cleaners 3”. You will need a total of eight 3” black pipe cleaners.

  • Using hot glue, attach the pipe cleaners to the underside of the black egg carton. Four pipe cleaners on each side, equal distance apart.

  • Turn the spider over and form the legs into “L” shapes with little feet at the bottom that the spider can balance on.

  • Glue the google eyes to the front of the spider.

Tree Egg Carton Craft

Supplies:

  • Paper egg carton

  • Construction paper

  • Green paint

  • Brown paint

  • Paintbrushes

  • Hot glue gun

  • Scissors

Instructions:

  • Cut out 12 cups from an egg carton. Trim around the edges of each cup so it lies flat.

  • Paint the cups green. Allow paint to dry completely.

  • Arrange the cups in the shape of a tree top on your construction paper and glue each cup in place.

  • Paint the trunk of the tree brown and allow to dry completely.

  • You can add any embellishments you want to the tree- apples, birds, bees, etc.

Ladybug Egg Carton Craft

Supplies:

  • Paper egg carton

  • Black pipe cleaner

  • Googly eyes

  • Black pom poms

  • Red paint

  • Black paint

  • Paint brushes

  • Cotton swab or fine paint brush

  • Glue gun

  • Scissors

 

Instructions:

  • Cut out a cup from an egg carton. Trim around the edges so it lies flat.

  • Piant the egg carton red.

  • Allow the paint to dry completely.

  • Cut two black pipe cleaners into 2” long pieces and bend them into an “L” shape for antennae.

  • Glue the googly eyes onto the black pom pom.

  • Attach the antennae and the pom pom with the eyes on it to the egg carton piece. 

  • Using a cotton swab (or a fine paint brush), paint black dots onto the red egg carton cup

Flower Arrangement Egg Carton Craft

Supplies:

  • Paper egg carton

  • Pipe cleaners

  • Construction paper

  • Paint (any color you want your flowers)

  • Paint brushes

  • Pom poms (any colors for the center of the flowers)

  • Hot glue gun

  • Scissors

Instructions:

  • Cut out three cups from an egg carton. Trim around the edges so they lie flat.

  • Using scissors, cut the egg carton cups to form flowers.

  • Piant the egg carton cups any color.

  • Allow the paint to dry completely.

  • Using a hot glue gun, attach the pom poms to the center of the flowers.

  • Attach the flowers to the construction paper background.

  • Add pipe cleaners for the stems of the flowers.

Supplies:

  • Paper egg carton

  • Red paint

  • Paint brush

  • Red pipe cleaners

  • 1 pair of googly eyes

  • Scissors

  • Hot glue gun

 

Instructions:

  • Cut out a cup from an egg carton. Trim around the edges so it lies flat.

  • Piant the egg carton red.

  • Allow the paint to dry completely.

  • Cut the red pipe cleaner: cut 8 pieces about 2 inches long for the legs.

  • Cut 2 pieces of the red pipe cleaner that are each 4-6 inches long for the claws.

  • Cut two shorter lengths of pipe cleaner about ½ inch for the bugging-out eyes.

  • Glue four legs to each side of the underside of the painted egg cup. Make sure the legs are evenly spaced.

  • Bend the longer lengths of pipe cleaners into pinchers: about three-quarters of the way up the pipe cleaner, fold the wire back onto itself, then twist to create a Y-shaped wire. Then curl the bottom of the length into grabby claws.

  • To create the eyes, dab a bit of hot glue onto the end of each of the shortest of the pipe cleaners and attach the glued end to a google eye.

  • Adhere the pipe cleaner with the googly eyes to the body with another dot of glue each.

  • Using a generous amount of glue, stick the claws to the underside of the crab body. These should be placed at the front of the crab, nearest the eyes.

Crab Egg Carton Craft

Lid Ladybug Craft

Supplies:

  • Lids – any size. These can be from drinks, jars, bottles, etc.

  • Paint – any color you want your ladybug to be.

  • Black paint

  • Paint brush

  • Cotton swab or fine paint brush

  • Googly eyes

  • Hot glue gun.

 

Instructions:

  • Paint the top and sides of the lid any color you want your ladybug to be.

  • Allow paint to dry completely.

  • Using a cotton swab or thin paintbrush, make a head and spots on the ladybug.

  • Once the black paint dries, use a hot glue gun to attach the googly eyes to the head of the ladybug.

Paper Roll Octopus

Supplies:

  • Toilet paper roll (to make a bigger octopus, you can use an empty paper towel roll)

  • Paint (any color you want for the octopus)

  • Googly eyes

  • Hot glue gun

  • Scissors

  • Permanent pen

 

Instructions:

  • Paint the paper roll and allow paint to dry completely.

  • Using scissors, cut a total of 8 strips for legs (each strip should be about ¾” wide and the cut should go about a quarter of the way up the paper roll).

  • Bend the strips up gently to form legs.

  • Using a hot glue gun, attach googly eyes to the octopus.

  • Use a permanent pen to draw a small mouth

Paper Roll Octopus

Supplies:

  • Tin cans (for body of the robot)

  • Plastic lids (to make a hat)

  • Materials for arms and legs (straws, used batteries, plastic pieces)

  • Googly eyes/pom poms/permanent marker

  • Hot glue gun

 

Instructions:

  • Be creative and stack anything you want together to make a tin can robot. Use your hot glue gun to assemble. You can use straws or batteries for arms. Or you can use the plastic spool for doggie bags for arms. You can stack lids to make a hat.

  • You can add googly eyes, or pom poms or use a permanent marker to draw a face on your robot.

Lid Flower Craft

Supplies:

  • Six bottle caps of any size of shape

  • Paint

  • Paintbrush

  • Green pipe cleaners

  • Construction paper

 

Instructions:

  • Paint the bottle caps any color and let them dry overnight. You may need two coats of paint.

  • On your construction paper, arrange the bottle caps to create a center and “petals”.

  • Glue the bottle caps together on the paper.

  • Glue the pipe cleaner on as the stem. You may need to cut the pipe cleaner if it is too long.

  • Twist two smaller pipe cleaners to form leaves and attach them to the stem.

Disposable Contact Lens Butterfly 

Supplies:

  • Disposable contact lens packaging (rinsed) – as many as you would like for spots on your butterfly wings

  • Construction paper

  • Paint (any colors you want for the body, wings, and spots for your butterfly)

  • Paintbrushes

  • Pipe cleaner for butterfly antennae

  • Pair of googly eyes

  • Hot glue gun

 

Instructions:

  • Paint the body and wings of the butterfly on construction paper.

  • Allow the paint to dry completely.

  • Trim the disposable contact lens packaging to make even circles.

  • Paint the trimmed contact lens packaging different colors for the spots of the butterfly & allow the paint to dry.

  • Using a hot glue gun, attach the spots to the wings.

  • Add googly eyes to the face

  • Bend the pipe cleaner into a “V” shape and curl the edges out to make an antennae.

  • Using a hot glue gun, attach the pipe cleaner to the head of your butterfly to make antennae.

K-cup Apple

Supplies:

  • 1 K-cup (emptied and washed)

  • Red paint

  • Small paint brush

  • 1 Black pipe cleaner

  • 1 Green pipe cleaner

  • Scissors

Instructions:

  • Paint the whole outside of the K-cup red. 

  • Allow paint to dry completely.

  • Cut off 3” of black pipe cleaner.

  • Cut 9” of green pipe cleaner and form into an “8” shape, twisting the two ends together. Then wrap the green pipe cleaner around the black one to form two leaves.

  • After you have your stem and leaf formed, put the end of the black stem into the hole on the top of the K-cup. 

  • On the inside of the cup, twist the end of the pipe cleaner to the side so that it stays in place.

K-cup Apple

Supplies:

  • 1 K-cup (emptied and washed)

  • Brown paint

  • Small paint brush

  • 2 pipe cleaners (for antlers)

  • Pair of googly eyes

  • Pom pom (for nose)

  • Hot glue gun

  • Scissors

 

Instructions:

  • Paint the whole outside of the K-cup brown.

  • Allow the paint to dry completely.

  • Using a hot glue gun, attach the googly eyes and the pom pom for the nose.

  • Cut each pipe cleaner to 8”.

  • Twist each of the pipe cleaners to form the shape of the antlers and attach the antlers to each side of the K-cup.

K-cup Frankenstein

Supplies:

  • 1 K-cup (emptied and washed)

  • Green paint

  • Black paint

  • Paintbrush

  • Pair of googly eyes

  • Hot glue gun

 

Instructions:

  • Paint all of the sides of the K-cup green.

  • Allow paint to dry completely.

  • Paint the top of the K-cup black and bring some fringes down onto face to create a hairline.

  • Using a hot glue gun, attach the googly eyes to the face.

  • Paint a small mouth & eyebrows using black paint.

Supplies:

  • 1 white K-cup (emptied and washed)

  • Black paint

  • Paintbrush

  • Orange construction paper

  • Black construction paper

  • Pair of googly eyes

  • Hot glue gun

  • Scissors

 

Instructions:

  • Leave a portion of the front of the K-cup unpainted – this will form the front of your penguin.

  • Paint the rest of the K-cup black (leave a portion of the K-cup white for the front of the penguin).

  • Allow the paint to dry completely.

  • Attach the googly eyes to the white front of the penguin.

  • Using scissors, cut a small triangle out of the orange construction paper.

  • Using scissors, cut two small feet out of the orange construction paper.

  • Using scissors, cut two small wings out of black construction paper.

  • Using a hot glue gun, attach the nose and feet to the penguin.
